The CLA Confab's emergent working group on Advocacy and Collective Voice will be hosting an On the Table discussion around advocating for adult literacy on Monday, May 13 from 10:30 am - 12 noon in the Room on Mango Street (3rd Floor) at the Literacenter.
This year's focus of On the Table is creating a "Memo to the Mayor." We want to make sure that the mayor is aware of the high number of adults dealing with low literacy in our city and the organizers of On the Table think a "memo is the best way to document what our community wants to tell Chicago’s new mayor." Will you help us shape our message to the Mayor and other stakeholders? The conversation will be led by the working group's co-chairs, Claire Haasl of David L. Hoyt Education Foundation and Lola Harrison of Concordia University Chicago's Center for Literacy.
All are invited to attend, please tell your colleagues and anyone interested in participating to join us. If you want to be involved in this Confab working group, but can't make it to this conversation or the next Confab on May 15, please email Claire at Claire@davidlhoytfoundation.org.
